The present article attempts to probe into the basic parameters in forming a theoretical model which is associated with the economic geography of borders. Within this framework, the impacts of economic integration on border space are being scrutinized. More specifically what is examined, is the extent and the way in which the location of firms is affected by transport costs, market size, urban system and "noneconomic obstacles". A crucial question arising from the labour market perspective, deals with the implications of migration flows in the border space economy. Analyzing the answers to the above questions constitutes a valuable contribution in providing a further understanding of the dynamics released on space and economy due to the abolition of border obstacles.
