In recent decades, there has been a dramatic increase in the elderly population, especially in developed western countries. This phenomenon has caused great concern in the global scientific community due to the effects associated with the movement of the elderly, as they choose private vehicles for their trips, especially in cases where they face a low level of accessibility in Public Transportation.
Accessibility Analysis with Public Transport plays an increasingly important role in policy-making processes related to both environmental issues and especially those aimed at socially vulnerable groups.
This article is the result of a Master' s Thesis prepared by Tzoumas (2020) and aims to investigate the accessibility of older people in public transport in the Municipality of Nea Ionia Attica in an environment of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), in order to determine the level of accessibility enjoyed by the population group in the study area.
