This article addresses Greece's Regional Operational Programmes. More precisely the paper analyses the relationship between the Regional Operational Programmes and the regional development strategy in Greece. The questions to be discussed are the following: Do regional programmes comprise part of a broader regional planning or are they isolated actions, which simply complement other policies? What is the relative share of these programmes through time within the whole of the CSFs and how can it be assessed? To what extent can these programmes be characterised as spatially redistributive and how does this change through time? What have we learned from them up to now and how this knowledge could be instructive for the future of regional planning in Greece?
