Abstract

This paper is focused on the analysis of the main changes as regards aging and "great aging" in Greece. More specifically, changes in residency patterns of people aged 80 years and over between 1991 and 2011 are examined, as well as existing regional differentiation. The analysis is based on the data of these two censuses, crossing at the regional level (NUTS 3) the living arrangements of the elderly (living alone, cohabitation with a spouse, co-habitation with others (other than spouse) and living in an institution.
