Water management as a key component in urban planning for the cities of the future

The article focuses on the need for integration of urban water management in urban planning, in the context of sustainability for the cities of the future. Firstly, we present the challenges that have to be faced in the direction of this holistic view. Then, an extensive reference to the principles that should govern the future urban planning according to social, economic and environmental criteria is being conducted. These principles are the pillars on which the necessary reforms and strategies proposed are based and relate to cooperation of the various components that make up the planning and especially water management, as a key condition for the sustainability and habitability of the cities of the future.
