Legislative reforms on spatial issues in the context of the crisis and urban planning challenges

The aim of this article is to contribute to the assessment of the reforms that have been adopted in Greece in the context of the crisis, by analyzing certain cases of spatial planning. In particular, the article focuses on the processes of urban planning at the Municipality of Chalandri and especially on the challenges that emerged during the last years concerning the revision of the ‘General Urban Plan’ of the Municipality and the ‘Urban Planning Study of the area Doukissis Plakentias zone – Pefko Politi – Ethnos’. The article investigates from a critical point of view the impact of specific legislative changes on land-ownership, spatial planning and spatial governance on the completion of the two urban plans and intends to highlight conflicts, contradictions and dynamics that arise regarding the regulation of space in Greece.
