The Metapolitefsi period (the political transition to democracy after the fall of the Junta) in Greece has been described as the "Spring of our Children's Literature". During this period, Greek children's literature flourished, as the country's publishers continued to publish more and more books intended for children and several notable Greek authors made their first appearance on the Greek literary market, creating and offering children exceptional works of literature. To Rodi[1]: the children's journal, a children’s magazine is published in this climate of general flourishing and development of Greek children's literature. The journal publishes a few literary texts, both by established and emerging authors, contributing to the development of Greek children's literature. This article explores the influences the children’s journal received from the children's literary journal Cricket which has been on the market in the U.S.A. since 1973 and the longest-running Greek children's journal H Diaplasis ton Paidon which was on the Greek market for seventy-eight years.
[1] “Rodi” in Modern Greek means pomegranate.
