The aim of the present study was examined the study of sport recreation constraints toward participation. In particular the present review investigated, a) the leisure constraints definitions and their theories, b) constraints, constraint factors and constraints categories, c) the hierarchical model of leisure constraints (Jackson, Crawford, & Godbey, 1993), d) the relationship between leisure constraints and different demographic characteristics, e) the relationship between constraints and frequency of participation, & f) future trends and suggestions for further research in sport recreation area. The information which derives from the research of constraints in recreational sport participation must be taken into serious consideration according a) recreation policies that sport recreational organizations develop, b) different management disciplines and applications and c) the effective promotion methods and strategies in respect to potential recreation participants.
