Abstract

This article focuses on the short story The Only Journey of his life by G. M. Vizyinos and specifically examines two adaptations of the short story in the context of children's literature. In particular, the article delves into a comparative analysis of the translation process to highlight the linguistic, conceptual and ideological shifts in the two children’s adaptions. This analysis reveals the personal involvement of the adaptors in approaching the source text, as well as the different views and principles that govern the translation of children's literature in a specific era and culture. Ultimately, children's adaptations of classic works aim to introduce young readers to elements of the source texts' culture and gradually familiarize them with writing forms found in the source text, thereby facilitating their future access to it.
