The present study seeks to examine how sexism is articulated in the textual representations of a distinct cultural product, that of domestic chick-lit. A qualitative research on a selected sample of the work of the most commercial authors of romantic novels, Chrysiida Dimoulidou and Lena Manta, is applied in order to investigate the social construction of gender in light of sexism; both as a social phenomenon and as a way of perceiving and approaching social reality. The aim is to identify and highlight any points and forms that reproduce sexism discourse in a very popular literature genre and cultural product, which is on the margins of public and scientific criticism.
