Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of Physical Education (PE) secondary school teachers’ capability in using computers to integrate them in the educational process. Forty-eight PE educators, men and women, participated in the present research who is serving in secondary schools in the areas of Xanthi, Kavala, Rhodope and Athens. As research tool was used the Greek Scale of Self-efficacy regarding Computers (Kasotaki & Roussos, 2006) for measuring the self-efficacy degree in basic knowledge of computer handling as well as in dealing with simple problems. According to the results of the study, PE secondary school teachers seem to indicate a high-level self-efficacy to use computers, but they still feel insecure and worried about the systematic use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) during their teaching in the classroom. Also, the role of teacher training for educational use of ICT seems to be important.
