Abstract

Dancing is a part of human life since ancient years. Ιn Greek folk dance clubs there are groups just for
adolescents to participate in. The present research tries a preliminary examination of adolescents’ motives in
such groups. 134 participants (boys and girls) completed the “Participation Motives Questionnaire” structured for folk dance groups. The results showed that adolescents participate in such groups for fun and for
being members of a group. Knowing the motives for participating in such groups, helps pulling in more
adolescents and make them join such kinetic activities.
