Abstract

According to the curriculum of physical education the lesson should help students to improve their character. The purpose of this survey was to examine if the evaluation of students’ personality factors is a part of the whole evaluation of school performance, and which methods for this proccedure physical educators used. In addition, a purpose of this study was to control if the personality factors’ evaluation differed by sex, experience, coaching responsibilities and the background knowledge of the physical education teachers. 280 PE elementary teachers (159 males, 121 females) who were radomly selected completed a questionnaire that was conducted for the needs of the study. The analysis of the results showed that physical educators evaluated more positively the characteristics associated with personal success, teamwork, and goodfellowship. It also seemed that sex, experience, coaching responsibilities and the kowledge background of PE teachers influenced the results of the evaluation proccedure.
